March 2010

Friday, March 19 - SCRHA Board Meeting - Time:  6 pm

Location:  Scott County Golf Course Meeting Building

 

Saturday, March 20 - Vet Day at the Park - Starting time:  12:00 noon

Dr. Bill Fuller will be available to pull coggins, ultrasound, float teeth and vaccinate horses and to vaccinate and give rabies shots and licenses to dogs, cats, and other pets.  A Youth Clinic will also be offered covering various equine topics.  

 

Saturday, March 27 - Annual Spring Plow-off - Time:  10:00 am

Location:  John Meade farm near the Rikemo in Dungannon, Va.

 

April 2010

Saturday, April 10 - SCRHA Spring Classic Horse Show - Time:  1:00 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Saturday, April 17 - Hagan Hall / Branham Road to Mahogany Hollow - Time:  10:30 am

Riders will meet at the Scott County Horse Park at 10:30 am and haul on to the ride site.  About a 5 hour ride.  Great views.  Riding gravel and forest service roads.

Saturday, May 8 - SCRHA Golden Gaits Horse Show - Time:  1:00 pm

Saturday, May 15 - Hickory Tree at Cherokee Campground, Holston Lake Trail Ride

Optional overnight or day ride.  Meet at Lowe's on East Stone Drive in Kingsport, Tn.  For info, contact Kenny Dingus at (276)452-1274.

 

Saturday, May 22 - Siege of the Blockhouse Trail Ride and Reenactment

Location:  Rye Cove to Natural Tunnel State Park

Meet at Rye Cove High School at 9:30 am to start ride to Natural Tunnel.  Riders will dress in 1700 period appropriate clothing and will play the settlers traveling to Kentucky.  Water and horse ties will be available.  For more info, contact Charlie Green at (276)452-2396.

 

Saturday, May 22 - 3rd Annual Walking & Racking Horse Show - Time:  4:00 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Location:  High Knob area of the Jefferson National Forest

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Saturday, June 12 - Meadow Creek Trail Ride, Greene County, Tn.

Saturday, June 19 - Dungannon Fire Department Horse Show - Time:  5:00 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

 

 

July 2010

Monday, July 5 to Saturday, July 10 - Scott County Wagon Train

Location:  Jarvis Vicar's farm in Twin Springs

Saturday, July 3 - Hales Lake Trail Ride, Smyth County, Va.

About 83 miles from Nickelsville, Va.  Riders will have the option to stay overnight if desired.  For more info, contact Jeff Flanary at (276)479-1356.

Saturday, August 7 - SCRHA Rack-N-Roll Horse Show - Time:  5:00 pm

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va. (tentative)

All proceeds from this show benefit the Rack-N-Roll 4-H Horse Club.  Check back soon for more details.

Location:  High Knob area of Jefferson National Forest

Sunday, September 5 - Little Stoney Falls Trail Ride

Meet at Scott County Horse Park at 10:30 am and haul to ride site.  About a 5 hour ride.  Beautiful views.  Enjoy the fall colors.  Forest and gravel roads.  Will be a joined ride with the wagon train.

Location:  Scott County Horse Park, Dungannon, Va.

Saturday, October 9 - Mabe to Flannery and Pick Breeches Ridge Trail Ride

Meet at 10:00 am at the old Citgo Market on US 23 North before Duffield, Va and haul to ride site.  About a 6 hour ride.  Gravel and service gated roads.  See the fall colors.
